I am a retired electrical engineer who worked in research and development for my entire career. I specialized in semiconductor and piezoelectric devices and systems with applications in medical imaging, aerospace and other fields. I transitioned to writing after being inspired by my late father's work as an aeronautical engineer. My father, Ralph Waechter, passed away in 2012 and left behind a treasure trove of important papers from his work at A.V. Roe Canada Limited as well as some papers associated with his subsequent employment. The former included aircraft performance graphs for the Avro Jetliner (pictured above) and CF-100 Canuck, as well as performance graphs and reports for the CF-105 Arrow. While my post-retirement research and writing initially focussed on my father's work at A.V. Roe and other companies, it soon expanded to include the work of his former University of Toronto classmates. Many of his classmates also worked at A.V. Roe Canada Limited and went on to outstanding careers after that company expired.
